Belgium Residence Permit

Belgium Residence Permit

Belgium, a founding member of the EU, it is a reputable country in Europe for its political and economic stability. It is also one of the world's largest trading nations, has an excellent healthcare system, and it offers a good quality of life for its residents. Belgium offers a relatively easy process to obtain resident status and eventually citizenship to non EU citizens.
Belgium also has attractive corporate and personal taxation systems, and it is a discreet tax haven for affluent individuals and families who do not live off employment income. Special tax incentives also apply to particular categories, including intellectual property and shipping.

Belgian residence permit allows visa-free travel to the Schengen area and can be obtained within a reasonable amount of time. With a case-by-case decision process, the visa and residency application process can take between two and four months, depending on individual circumstances.

Belgium offers an investor friendly environment with interesting opportunities for obtaining a residence permit under one of the economic categories. These include the set up of an international holding structure in Belgium, an investment in an existing Belgian company, or an investment in a foreign company through a Belgium holding company.
This positions Belgium as an excellent investment option, however, investment is not required for obtaining permanent residency. In general, and compared with other residency programmes, the cost for obtaining residency is very low.

Depending on individual circumstances, application for Belgian citizenship is possible after five years of legal residency.
