About Dominica
Dominica is an island located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean and is part of the Caribbean West Indies. The nature island consists of a total area of 751 sq. kilometres and has a population of 73.499. In 1978 the island granted its independence from Britain. The new era of freedom and independence brought increased challenges, and economic and political struggles.
Today, the Government of Dominica is investing heavily in tourism to drive economic development, focusing on the island's unsurpassed natural beauty, and the popularity of diving, hiking and eco tours. Dominica boasts wonderful examples of Caribbean architecture with a distinctive mix of French, English and Spanish influences. The island’s natural beauty of tropical forests, rivers and waterfalls are a major tourist attraction.
