Explore the Cyprus Investment Program

The Cypriot Investment Programme (CIP) has recently been featured in the news with a number of positive mentions, namely its top-rank as one of the European options for such government initiatives, as well as being the reference for Greece's version of its own CIP.

We would like to explore what makes this CIP one of the top-ranked European options, and also the long-established qualities which has made it a blueprint of its Greek's neighbour own attempts at creating a CIP of its own.

As you would have noted in our article regarding the changes of CIP program, Cyprus Ministry of Interior has annouced new updates to the investment program.

What makes Cyprus CIP one of the Europe's best?

Well, there are a large number of reasons...
But it all starts with starting the application for your CIP in a country which is also a member of a union that has various core underlying principles related to freedom-- the freedom of the movement of labour, capital, and goods and services across EU.

As with one of the core underlying principles of the European Union, the guaranteed freedom of movement of people ensures that investors and successful applicants of the Cypriot programme can travel, reside and seek employment throughout the EU member states unrestricted.

Also, capital within the EU is granted unconditional access throughout. Goods and services can be offered and transferred without hindrance across the member states.

Secondly, the value of the Cypriot programme.
Through this, there are citizenship eligibility allowances for immediate family members of the core applicant; and the lifelong validity and transferability of the citizenship to your descendants increases the long-term value of this investment choice.

Furthremore, it provides investors the opportunity of visa-free travel up to 172 countries across the globe.

Lastly, the convenience of the Cyprus Investment Programme.
There is no minimum stay duration required of the applicants before or after successfully obtaining the  citizenship of Cyprus, nor would the applicants be required to undergo any history or language proficiency assessments for their applications.

What are the requirements of CIP?

Generally, the investment requirements of CIP include (you may check all updated details here):

  • mandatory contribution of minimum EUR 150,000;
  • a minimum of a EUR 2,000,000 direct investment amount and with a 5-year retention/ holding period.

Regarding the invest options, one can opt for investments in real estate, development and infrastructure projects; or through the purchase, establishment and or participation in Cypriot businesses and companies.

On the other hand, the Cypriot CIP allows for applicants to invest in alternative investment funds or financial assets of Cypriot companies or organizations licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. Applicants may also make a combined investment on the abovementioned options of EUR 2 million.
