Almost 40.000 people have invested in a second passport, according to statistics
 

The Citizenship by Investment market faced a rapid increase through the few last years as new programmes entered and existing have been improved and seen their volumes grow. According to statistics, so far close to 40.000 people have invested in a second passport.

Europe:

Malta is accounting for about 2,101 economic citizens’ through the “Malta Individual Investor Programme “(MIIP) alone. This information is available in the annual reports of the programme’s regulator. Data for the year between 1st of July 2017 and 30th of June 2018 will become publicly available next month.

Cyprus: Officials at the Ministry of Finance had informed the press last February that the country has issued around 3,300 passports under the Cyprus Investment Programme. Data for the rest of the year is unavailable, however on average Cyprus is adding approximately 60 new economic citizens a month.

Caribbean Islands:

Antigua & Barbuda: A recent six-moth report issued by the Citizenship by Investment Unit indicates that Antigua & Barbuda had recorded 3,022 new citizens through their Citizenship by Investment Programme.

Dominica:  Though Dominica does not do any statistical reporting on its citizenship programme, numbers are calculated based on the fact that the head of the Citizenship by investment Unit, Emmanuel Nathan had stated in April this year that the programme was receiving between 1,500 and 2,000 applications per year. Together with this number, and IMF’s reporting on GDP growth it is assumed that that Dominica has approximately more than 6,000 and less than 10,000 economic citizens, via its Citizenship by Investment Programme.

Grenada: Based on Grenada’s reporting statistical data, up until the fourth quarter of 2017, the island’s Citizenship by Investment Programme had reached 1,614 economic citizens.

Saint Kitts and Nevis: In July this year, the Prime minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris, has stated that the island has the highest total of 14,6544 economic citizens.

Saint Lucia: CEO of Saint Lucia’s Citizenship by Investment Unit (the Caribbean’s newest entrant in the in the market of Citizenship by Investment programme), Nestor Alfred, announced that Saint Lucia had received 279 applications for a second passport, and that so far 78 of them had been approved.

Other countries:
Other countries reporting on a significant number of applicants through their citizenship by investment programmes are Belize, Bulgaria, Ireland, Jordan, Turkey, Austria and Vanuatu.
